At Butler Snow, Sean McGuinness is a member of the firm’s Gaming Industry Team, where he represents clients across the country, focusing on a range of commercial gaming and sports betting, tribal and regulatory matters in Colorado, Iowa, Mississippi, Nevada and elsewhere. He is a highly experienced gaming attorney with a reputation for having strong regulatory relationships and a practical approach, which provides innovative solutions for his clients.
In addition to his involvement with Irish Network USA, McGuinness has been involved in various professional organizations throughout his legal career, including previously serving as Chair of the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section of the Gaming Law Committee, serving as Co-Chair of the International Masters of Gaming Law in Dublin (2016), and serving as a member of the State Bar of Nevada’s Executive Committee (2004-206). He has also been a member of the Colorado Bar Association, Iowa State Bar Association, the Mississippi Bar, and the Denver Bar Association, amongst others.
McGuinness is AV®-Preeminent™ Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell®, and his work has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America® in Gaming Law, including Lawyer of the Year, Gaming Law (Denver), in 2020. Sean McGuinness earned both a bachelor’s degree (Political Science) and a Master of Arts degree (Journalism) from Drake University, where he also obtained his Juris Doctor.
