Butler Snow Adds Two Public Finance Attorneys in Georgia

Butler Snow LLP is pleased to announce that Collier W. McKenzie and Jackson K. O’Brien have joined the firm’s Public Finance, Tax Incentives & Credit Markets practice group. McKenzie will practice in the firm’s Macon office and O’Brien will practice in the Atlanta office.

McKenzie works closely with clients regarding traditional municipal finance transactions, serving as bond counsel and in other roles. He also brings experience in environmental law, government relations and other fields. Notably, McKenzie previously worked as a legal aide under the Georgia State Senate’s President Pro Tempore.

McKenzie has been recognized as a Rising Star by Georgia Super Lawyers® and is a member of the Georgia State Bar, Macon Bar Association, the American Agricultural Law Association and the National Association of Bond Lawyers. He earned his bachelor’s from the University of Georgia and received his Juris Doctor from Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law.

O’Brien focuses his practice on tax-exempt and taxable bond financing for various types of senior living communities, affordable housing communities and traditional municipal finance projects. He represents clients as bond counsel, underwriter’s counsel and borrower’s counsel in transactions with a variety of financing structures, including municipal bonds involving private placements and more.

O’Brien is licensed in South Carolina and Georgia and is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers, the South Carolina Bar and State Bar of Georgia. He earned his bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia.
