Butler Snow attorney Ivan Lu has again been recognized as a Rising Leader in Private Client Global Elite 2023. Lu practices in Butler Snow’s Business Services Practice Group and Singapore office. He focuses his practice on international tax and trust and estates representing ultra-high net worth clients with respect to their estate plans. He has extensive experience representing U.S.-connected families in the Greater China region and in Southeast Asia. In addition to estate and tax planning, Lu frequently assists clients with IRS compliance and disclosure, and guides clients through various IRS disclosure programs. He also assists clients with relinquishing their U.S. lawful permanent residency or U.S. citizenship while navigating the Covered Expatriate rules. He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
Lu completed his undergraduate education at Queen’s University and earned his Juris Doctor from UCLA School of Law, where he was unanimously selected as the top tax student of the graduating class and awarded with the Bruce I. Hochman Award for Excellence in the Study of Tax Law. He completed his Master of Laws in Taxation at New York University.
