February 2, 2023 | by Butler Snow

Butler Snow LLP is pleased to announce that two of the firm’s attorneys, Gadson William (Will) Perry and Brent E. Siler, have been listed as Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31 General Civil Mediators. The court’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Commission (ADRC) administers the procedure for training and approving mediators for use by the courts under Rule 31, which established court-based alternative dispute resolution on a state-wide basis. The Rule, promulgated in 1996, was set up to assist courts in obtaining mediators and other neutrals and also established the ADRC.

Will Perry’s practice at Butler Snow focuses on complex commercial litigation. He has represented businesses and governmental entities in all aspects of litigation, arbitration, and mediation in more than a dozen states. From June 2021 to September 2022, Perry served on the Chancery Court for the Thirtieth Judicial District of Tennessee, appointed by Governor Bill Lee to finish the term of a retired Chancellor. As Chancellor, Perry presided over a civil docket of more than 2,000 business, governmental, tax, divorce, and child custody cases, reviewed civil service and state agency appeals, and was referred commercial cases by other judges for judicial mediation.

Brent Siler represents clients in employment and commercial litigation matters. In his employment law practice, Siler advises employers on management issues, including employee discipline, reasonable accommodation, and leave issues and drafts contracts, policies and other employment-related documents. Siler represents clients in state and federal courts in wage and hour collective and class actions, discrimination, harassment, OSHA, non-competition and employee benefits matters. Siler also frequently advises employers in litigating non-competition agreements, arbitration, commercial contracts litigation, and construction matters.

Perry and Siler join former U.S. Attorney Edward L. Stanton III and firm Pro Bono Counsel Linda Warren Seely, who also is a member of the ADRC, as listed Rule 31 mediators in Butler Snow’s Memphis office, as well as attorneys Gayle Malone, Jr., and Kevin C. Baltz in the firm’s Nashville office. Butler Snow has handled hundreds of alternative dispute resolution matters through both nationally recognized arbitration services and organizations and by advocating in countless mediations.
