Butler Snow is pleased to announce that James E. Bailey, III has been elected to the 2018 Mid-South Commercial Law Institute (MSCLI) Board of Directors. Bailey began serving on the 25-member board this past February. Bailey and his fellow directors will serve five-year terms.
“Jeb is a great addition to the Mid-South Commercial Law Institute Board of Directors,” said Donald Clark, Jr., chairman, Butler Snow. “His experience and talent will provide excellent direction and leadership for the Board during his tenure.”
For more than 30 years, the MSCLI has conducted annual two-day Continuing Legal Education (CLE) seminars on commercial and bankruptcy law topics in Nashville, Tenn. The MSCLI board of directors, made up of attorneys from across the state of Tennessee, produces these seminars. Members of the board are grouped into committees that take responsibility for all aspects of the seminar.
The annual seminar attracts attorneys from across the southeast, from solo practitioners to attorneys employed by the nation’s largest law firms. In addition to providing quality CLE, the seminar also offers valuable networking opportunities, including a reception sponsored by the Tennessee Bar Association.
Each year, the seminar panel includes leading scholars, jurists and practitioners. Seminar content is authoritative, comprehensive and timely, and the breadth of topics covered in them appeals to attorneys of diverse specialties, including bankruptcy, insolvency and restructuring, creditors’ rights, finance and commercial litigation.
The next seminar will be Nov. 29 – 30.
As a member and former practice group leader of Butler Snow’s finance, real estate and restructuring group, Bailey works with companies and individuals in business reorganizations, litigation, workouts and bankruptcy proceedings. Bailey is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy, a member of the Tennessee Bar Association, Arkansas Bar Association, Alabama Bar Association, United State Bankruptcy Court, Memphis Bar Association and Mid-South Commercial Law Institute. He is admitted to practice in Tennessee, Arkansas, Alabama, the U.S. District Courts of Tennessee: middle and western, U.S. Court of Appeals: 6th, 8th and 11th circuits, U.S. Supreme Court and U.S. Bankruptcy Court.
Bailey is AV-Rated by Martindale Hubbell and has recognized by The Best Lawyers in America® in bankruptcy and creditor debtor rights and insolvency and reorganization law. He has also been recognized by Mid-South Super Lawyers® in bankruptcy and creditor debtor rights. Bailey received his undergraduate degree from Auburn University and his Juris Doctor from the University of Memphis.
