Butler Snow Attorney Doug Weissinger Teaches at Mississippi School of Banking

Butler Snow attorney Doug Weissinger recently taught a course on Regulatory Enforcement Actions at the Mississippi School of Banking on July 30, 2024, at the University of Mississippi.

Established in 1970 by the Mississippi Bankers Association, the Mississippi School of Banking was created to provide bankers with a complete set of courses covering all aspects of banking, as well as overall bank management. The School encourages interactions with fellow bankers that promote problem solving solutions throughout the banking industry. Each course is designed to prepare attendees for further education taught at graduate banking schools.

Doug’s practice focuses on financial institutions, with particular emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, securities law and regulatory compliance. Doug advises his financial institution clients on matters related to the acquisition or sale of existing banks and bank holding companies; the acquisition, sale, establishment and relocation of branch offices; and regulatory compliance matters involving the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Federal Reserve Board, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and other state regulatory agencies.

Doug also has experience in general corporate law, including mergers and acquisitions, offerings of and investments in debt and equity securities, and private equity transactions. Doug routinely advises boards of directors and senior managers on significant transactions and critical events in the life cycle of their business. He is a Certified Community Bank Compliance Officer and has been recognized by the Mississippi Business Journal as a Leader in Finance. Doug is a member of the Mississippi, Tennessee, Memphis and American Bar Associations and the Mississippi and Tennessee Bankers Associations.

Doug earned his bachelor’s degree from Washington and Lee University and his Juris Doctor from the University of Texas School of Law. He is admitted to practice in Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi and Texas.
