Ashley N. Wicks Named Best Tax Attorney by Jackson Free Press for Third Consecutive Year

Butler Snow attorney Ashley N. Wicks has been named Best Tax Attorney in the Jackson Free Press’s 2020 Best of Jackson reader poll. This is the third consecutive year Wicks has received this honor. Best of Jackson is voted on by residents each year for what they believe to be the best things in the city, from places to eat and drink to people to nonprofits and everything in between. As a member of Butler Snow LLP’s Business Services and Public Finance Groups, Wicks’ practice focuses on public finance, general corporate transactions and tax issues such as public finance tax, state and local taxation, controversy matters, opportunity zones and tax credits. With over 14 years of experience, she has represented a variety of entities in $500+ million federal new markets tax credit transactions, historic rehabilitation tax credits, and/or renewable energy tax credit transactions. Wicks served as bond counsel to a variety of entities and has worked with mass transit agencies in the exercise of early buy-out options and voluntary terminations of tax-advantaged leases, including payment undertaking. In addition, she has also represented taxpayers in controversy matters and served as counsel to banks in financing transactions.

Wicks is a member of the American, National, Magnolia and Capital Bar Associations, as well as the National Association of Bond Lawyers. She has served in various leadership positions, including President of the Magnolia Bar Association, and chaired various committees. Wicks was named in the Top 10 of Mississippi Business Journal’s 2016 “Top 50 Under 40” and has been recognized by the National Bar Association’s 2018 Nation’s Best Advocates: 40 Lawyers Under 40, by Mid-South Super Lawyers® as a “Rising Star” in tax and by Best Lawyers in America® for tax law. In addition, she is also a 2018 Fellow of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity.
