John Shoemaker to Serve on Board of Governors for Kansas Bar Association

John Shoemaker has been elected to serve on the board of governors for the Kansas Bar Association (KBA). He will represent District 12 (out of state).

The board of governors is the governing body of the KBA. It is a representative body of 30 members elected from 12 association-delineated districts in Kansas. The board oversees the business and affairs of the association, establishes committees and sections, sets policy, represents the KBA at official functions and  the interests of members at the national level.

John is a member of the firm’s business services group and practices in our Singapore office. He has more than 25 years of experience in legal and regulatory compliance, and is a common law attorney with educational emphasis on taxation, trusts and estate planning. John also has extensive experience in ensuring multi-jurisdictional compliance for product offerings (working with outside counsel and adapting products for sale in relevant jurisdictions), including product management skills to direct complex products from concept to fully operational status.

John is a member of the Singapore Trustees Association, the Society of Trust and Estates Practitioners and the Kansas Bar Association. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas, his Juris Doctor from Washburn University School of Law and his Masters of Law in Taxation from the University of Alabama School of Law.
