We are pleased to announce that Kari L. Sutherland received ‘The Quarterly’ Editorial Award from the Mississippi Defense Lawyers Association (MDLA). Kari received the award in recognition of her exceptional service and dedication to the MDLA publication.

MDLA is a statewide association of attorneys who practice primarily in the defense of civil litigation. Founded in 1965, MDLA has grown to an active membership of over 600 attorneys.  Its purpose is to bring together Mississippi civil defense lawyers to exchange information, ideas and techniques of procedure and court rulings relating to the handling of litigation, to enhance the knowledge and improve the skills of defense lawyers, to promote improvements in the administration of justice, and to increase the quality of service which the legal profession renders to the community, state and nation.

Kari was recently named in Benchmark Litigation’s Top 250 Women in Litigation and was listed individually as a 2018 Benchmark Litigation Star. She focuses her practice on drug and device litigation. Kari is the recipient of a 2017 Burton Award for Distinguished Legal Writing.  She is a member of the Mississippi, Tennessee and 5th Circuit Bar Associations, Defense Research Institute, Federalist Society, Fellowship of the Litigation Counsel of America, Lafayette County Bar Association, Mississippi Defense Lawyers Association, and Trial Attorneys of America. She is also a former special agent for the U.S. Secret Service.

Kari received her undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama and her Juris Doctor from Mississippi College School of Law.

We congratulate Kari on winning this award. Her dedication to the MDLA is admired, and this association is a great partnership for our firm.
