Butler Snow Attorney Randall D. McClanahan to Serve As Panelist on ABA Webinar on Accounting for Lawyers

Birmingham, June 21, 2017 – Butler Snow attorney Randall D. McClanahan will serve as a panelist for the upcoming American Bar Association (ABA) webinar – Business Law Basics: Basics of Accounting for Lawyers.  The webinar, which does offer 1.5 hours of CLE credit, is presented by the Law and Accounting Committee of the Business Law Section of the ABA.

The live webinar will take place on Thursday, July 29th from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. EST and focus on basic accounting knowledge for lawyers.  Topics will include the reviewing and understanding of balance sheets, income statements, statements of cash flow, and financial statement footnotes, roles of the various regulatory authorities and understanding financial statement representations and warranties.

McClanahan is a business attorney who has experience in corporate law, taxation law, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and private equity transactions, international tax, executive compensation, and the legal aspects of accounting and auditing.  In addition to serving as the chairman of the Law and Accounting Committee of the Business Law Section of the ABA, he is also a member of the Birmingham and Alabama Bar Associations, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, and the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants.  McClanahan is AV-Rated by Martindale-Hubbell and has been ranked in The Best Lawyers in America® for Tax Law.  He is also a Certified Public Accountant in Alabama and Georgia.

McClanahan completed his undergraduate education in accounting at Auburn University and went on to earn a Master of Tax Accounting from the University of Alabama, a Master of Business Administration from Duke University and his Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina.

McClanahan will serve on the panel alongside Linda L. Griggs; Christopher M. Holmes of Ernst & Young LLP; and Thomas W.
