Butler Snow attorney Melissa A. Lorber has been selected for new leadership roles with two Austin-area organizations. She recently joined Impact Austin’s Board of Directors as Governance Co-Chair for fiscal year 2027 and is serving as Chair of the Travis County Women Lawyers’ Foundation.
Impact Austin is an Austin-based women’s collective giving organization that funds Central Texas nonprofits and provides transformative grants that strengthen the community and improve lives. Before joining the Board, Melissa served on Impact Austin’s Grants Leadership Team.
The Travis County Women Lawyers’ Foundation has, since 1991, provided grants to Central Texas nonprofit organizations protecting the legal rights of women and children. The purpose of the Foundation is to support, promote, and encourage activities for the furtherance of justice and equal opportunity for women, families, and children. Melissa will serve as Chair of the Foundation after completing her term as President of the Travis County Women Lawyers’ Association.
Melissa A. Lorber
Lorber, a member of Butler Snow’s Appellate and Written Advocacy group, is a board-certified appellate lawyer who represents businesses in litigation at both the trial and appellate levels, in state and federal courts. She regularly represents clients before the Texas Supreme Court, the Texas Courts of Appeals, and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. As a former newspaper journalist, Melissa employs her writing, research, and investigation skills in advocating for her business clients’ interests.
Lorber has been recognized by BL Rankings, The Best Lawyers in America® for her work in appellate practice. She has also been recognized by Thomson Reuters Super Lawyers® and by Austin Monthly as a top lawyer in Austin and Texas in the appellate category. Lorber was the winner of the 2020 Litigation/Appellate Award from the Travis County Women Lawyers’ Association.
