Butler Snow Attorney Brad Waring Selected to The Supreme Court of South Carolina’s 2025 Pro Bono Honor Roll

Butler Snow attorney Bradish “Brad” J. Waring has been selected as a member of The Supreme Court of South Carolina’s 2025 Pro Bono Honor Roll in recognition of services rendered to citizens of South Carolina. Honor Roll members are recognized for spending 50 or more hours of pro bono service during a calendar year. Waring was previously recognized as a member of the 2019 and 2021 pro bono honor roll lists.

Brad Waring

Waring is a seasoned trial attorney with 45+ years of experience and 50+ trials to verdict. He is a member of the firm’s Tort, Transportation and Specialized Litigation Group, where he concentrates his practice in the civil arena at the state and federal levels, where he represents a variety of clients in complex litigation matters. He is also frequently asked by his peers to serve as a mediator or arbitrator in various civil matters. Waring has handled many maritime personal injury matters on both the plaintiff and defense sides. He is also a member of the Southeast Admiralty Law Institute (SEALI).

Waring has been recognized by BL Rankings, The Best Lawyers in America® for commercial litigation and bet-the-company litigation, by South Carolina Thomson Reuters Super Lawyers® for business litigation, transportation/maritime, alternative dispute resolution, insurance coverage and personal injury-products, by Chambers USA for litigation: general commercial and by Martindale-Hubbell® with an AV®-Preeminent™ Peer Review rating. In 2024, he received the South Carolina Supreme Court Chief Justice’s Lifetime Achievement award. He was also listed in Charleston Business Magazine’s Legal Elite of the Low Country – International Maritime, is a two-time recipient of the South Carolina Lawyers Weekly Leadership in Law Award and is a recipient of the Compleat Lawyer Award, Gold Category from the University of South Carolina School of Law.

Waring serves as a Board Member of the Law Alumni Council and was the Past President of the South Carolina Bar, a Legacy Donor of the South Carolina Bar Foundation, the State Bar Delegate for South Carolina for the American Bar Association, and a mediator for the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals in Charleston. He is a member of the Charleston County Bar Association, the South Carolina Judicial Council, the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association, the Southeast Admiralty Law Institute, the Defense Research Institute (DRI), and the Litigation Counsel of America Trial Law Institute and Diversity Law Institute. Waring has been previously reappointed to the South Carolina Supreme Court’s Chief Justice’s Commission on The Profession.

Waring earned his bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina.
