Butler Snow LLP is pleased to announce that Allena W. McCain has been recently appointed as the 2024-2025 Vice-Chair of the Medicine and Law General Committee of the American Bar Association’s Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section (TIPS).  She will begin her term on August 6, 2024, following the 2024 ABA Annual Meeting in Chicago, IL. Committee members are appointed in recognition of their talent and commitment to the section.

TIPS is the ABA’s home for emerging issues and technologies in tort, trial and insurance law. As members of the committee, appointees focus on substantive and procedural matters in specific areas of practice and provide opportunities for members to interact with and learn from other professionals.

She has represented insurance companies and small businesses, defending against personal injury claims, auto accident claims, and premises liability claims.  Allena also works with the Constitutional and Civil Rights Litigation group, where she works with correctional agencies with constitutional and civil rights claims.  She has participated in several trials, including one of the first in-person jury trials following courts reopening after the COVID-19 pandemic and multiple class-action trials brought by incarcerated individuals.

She was recently recognized in 2024 as a Rising Star in Personal Injury – General: Defense by Louisiana Super Lawyers®. Allena is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Baton Rouge Bar Association.  Allena’s commitment to trial practice extends to her involvement in the BRBA Mock Trial Committee and LSU Law Center Advocacy Program, where she volunteers by coaching, judging, and administering various advocacy competitions each year.

Allena earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisiana Monroe and her Juris Doctor from Louisiana State University. She is admitted to the state bar of Louisiana.
