B. Parker Berry and Mark W. Garriga to Present on Mississippi’s COVID-19 Emergency Relief Program

Butler Snow attorneys B. Parker Berry and Mark W. Garriga will present to the Mississippi Municipal League with a representative from the Mississippi Office of the State Auditor on Wednesday, Sept. 2 at 10 a.m. The webinar, titled “MEMA’s COVID-19 Emergency Relief Program – Grant Funding Under the Stafford Act and Coronavirus Relief Fund,” will detail the new emergency relief program administered by the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) and its relationship to the CARES and Stafford Acts. Berry is a member of the firm’s Regulatory and Government practice group and represents a variety of state and local governmental bodies. As a result, he has a breadth of experience and knowledge in navigating regulatory, administrative and environmental components and litigation matters for both public and private clients.

He has served on the Government Operations and Liability Committee, Election Law and Reapportionment Sub-Committee, Land Use and Planning Committee and Urban Development Sub-Committee for the American Bar Association. Berry obtained his J.D. from the University of Mississippi and is admitted to The Mississippi Bar, the U.S. District Courts Northern and Southern Districts of Mississippi and the U.S. Court of Appeals Fifth Circuit.

Garriga serves as Practice Group Leader for the firm’s Health Law Group. He has been practicing law for more than 30 years and focuses his practice on health law, administrative law and government regulations. Garriga is experienced in the handling of healthcare certificates of need, legislative drafting and strategy, Medicaid policy and appeals, grant compliance and litigation of regulatory disputes.

Garriga formerly served as a Representative in the Mississippi House of Representatives, Chief of Staff for the Office of the Governor, and has served in various appointed positions in state government and the Mississippi Bar. He is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell and has been recognized for his work by The Best Lawyers in America® and Mid-South Super Lawyers®. Garriga earned his J.D. from the University of Mississippi and is admitted to The Mississippi Bar, the U.S. District Courts Northern and Southern Districts of Mississippi and the U.S. Court of Appeals Fifth Circuit.
