The University of Arkansas School of Law’s Women Law Students Association recently honored Butler Snow attorney Christy D. Jones with the 2020 Gayle Pettus Pontz Award.

Established in 1985 to honor the first woman graduate of the law school, the award recognizes those who best represent the accomplishments of women and the legal community as a whole. Students identify women who promote the association’s objectives of helping women thrive in law school, creating a community that will raise awareness of women’s issues and advancing women in the legal profession. The award is given annually, though a joint reception is held on alternate years. Karen Roberts, executive vice president and general counsel for Walmart Inc., was the 2019 recipient.

Christy is of counsel to the firm and focuses her practice on pharmaceutical and medical device litigation, as well as professional liability litigation. She has more than 40 years of trial experience, serving as national trial counsel to some of the largest pharmaceutical and consumer product corporations in the world. In many of these instances, she served as lead counsel in bellwether trials. She is a Fellow and past District 6 Regent of the American College of Trial Lawyers and is a member of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers and American Board of Trial Advocates.

Christy has been featured as one of Law360’s Female Powerbrokers, and Benchmark Litigation selected her as its 2017 Product Liability Attorney of the Year.  She is recognized by a variety of industry organizations, including Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, Who’s Who Legal: Product Liability Defense, Lawdragon 500The Best Lawyers in America and Mid-South Super Lawyers.  She received both her undergraduate degree and her Juris Doctor from the University of Arkansas.
