Butler Snow Adds 2 Attorneys to Denver Office

Butler Snow is pleased to announce that David G. Mayhan and Sarah Smyth O’Brien have joined the firm’s Denver office. Mayhan and O’Brien will both practice with the firm’s tort, transportation and specialized litigation group.

Mayhan has been practicing law since 1985 and focuses his practice on construction law, personal injury and product liability, insurance defense and coverage law and commercial litigation. During his career, he has achieved defense verdicts in construction and commercial law trials and arbitrations, prosecuted counterclaims related to construction defects and obtained summary judgment for third-party defendants in large complex construction defect claims.

Mayhan received his undergraduate degree and Juris Doctor from the University of Iowa. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Colorado Bar Association, Faculty of Federal Advocates, Colorado Defense Lawyers Association, Minnesota Bar Association, Defense Research Institute, the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel and the Colorado Catholic Lawyers Guild. Mayhan has been recognized by Colorado Super Lawyers® as a top-rated products liability attorney and by Best Lawyers® for mass tort litigation/class actions – defendants. He is admitted to practice in Colorado, Minnesota, U.S. District Court, District of Colorado and the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals.

O’Brien has been practicing law since 2002 and focuses her practice on defending premises liability, insurance bad faith, insurance investigation and coverage and construction defect matters in both state and federal courts, as well as private arbitration.

O’Brien received her undergraduate degree from the University of Wyoming and her Juris Doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. She is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, Faculty of Federal Advocates, Colorado Defense Lawyers Association and Claims and Litigation Management Alliance. O’Brien is licensed to practice in Colorado, U.S. District Court, District of Colorado and the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Mayhan and O’Brien have both been honored by Martindale-Hubbell with an AV Preeminent rating, awarded to those lawyers with the highest ethical standards and professional ability. Only about 10 percent of attorneys have achieved this prestigious honor.
