Butler Snow Recognized by 2017 LMG Life Sciences Awards

Butler Snow is pleased to announce the firm has been recognized by the 2017 LMG Life Sciences Awards as “Highly Recommended” for U.S. product liability litigation and shortlisted for “Product Liability Law Firm of the Year” in the U.S. The firm was one of only 14 firms ranked across the U.S. in the “Highly Recommended” category, and one of only nine firms on the shortlist.

Christy D. Jones and Orlando R. Richmond, Sr., were both recognized as Life Sciences Stars in the area of Product Liability Litigation by the 2017 LMG Life Sciences Awards, with Jones shortlisted as “Product Liability Attorney of the Year” for the U.S. Jones and Richmond are members of the Pharmaceutical, Medical Device and Healthcare Group at Butler Snow.

In its analysis, LMG Life Sciences states that “[t]he product liability capabilities of Butler Snow . . . were recognized by peers as ‘exceptional.’” LMG Life Sciences further states that “Christy Jones is singled out as ‘an unbelievably effective and active trial litigator,’” and that “Orlando ‘Rod’ Richmond was described by one industry competitor as having ‘one of the best courtroom presences in the industry’. . . . ”

In covering the U.S., LMG Life Sciences ranks firms either as “Highly Recommended” or “Recommended” within a number of sub-categories. Per its website, it bases its research on nearly 1,000 interviews with clients and leadings lawyers and surveys submitted by law firms and individual attorneys, along with reviewing public information. The publication ranks attorneys as Life Sciences Stars based upon consistent recommendations as reputable and effective attorneys servicing the industry.

The LMG Life Sciences recognition is one of many Butler Snow’s product liability attorney team has received recently. The firm was ranked one of the USA’s leading product liability firms in Who’s Who Legal: Product Liability Defence 2017 by number of attorneys listed, one of only 18 firms recognized. The firm was also recognized as a leading core firm for the pharmaceutical industry in the BTI Power Rankings 2017: The Law Firms with the Best Client Relationships in 18 Industries list. The ranking places the firm in the top five percent of all law firms with regard to client relations within the pharmaceutical and medical device industry. Jones has more than 30 years of trial experience, serving as national trial counsel to some of the largest pharmaceutical and consumer product corporations in the world. In many of these instances, she served as lead counsel in bellwether trials. She is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, and the American Board of Trial Advocates.  She has been recognized for her expertise by numerous publications, including Benchmark Litigation’s 2017 Product Liability Attorney of the Year, Chambers USA (nationwide ranking in the Leading Trial Lawyers and Product Liability & Mass Torts categories),  The Legal 500: U.S. (nationwide ranking as a Leading Lawyer in the Product Liability, Mass Tort and Class Action: Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices – Defense category),  Who’s Who Legal: Product Liability Defence (ranked third in North America as a thought leader), Who’s Who Legal: Life Sciences, Who’s Who Legal: Litigation, Lawdragon 500, The Best Lawyers in America, and Mid-South Super Lawyers.

Richmond has served as lead counsel or co-counsel in numerous jury trials in state, federal and military venues in a career spanning 27 years. His trial practice over the past several years has primarily involved mass tort litigation involving pharmaceutical products, toxic torts and environmental issues. Richmond is a fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, American College of Trial Lawyers and American Board of Trial Advocates.
