August 7, 2017 | by Butler Snow

Butler Snow attorney Paul S. Rosenblatt will serve as a speaker for the upcoming Knowledge Group webinar – New FDA Guidance on Medical Device Cybersecurity Management: Addressing Insecurity Concerns.  The webinar will take place on Tuesday, August 8, at 3:00 pm (EST) and one hour of CLE credit will be available for attendees.

Rosenblatt, who is presenting alongside Cipriani & Werner, PC partner Carolyn Purwin Ryan, will provide attendees with an overview of FDA cybersecurity guidance, examples of cyber risks associated with medical devices, and insights into conducting a risk analysis and building in pre-market controls.

Medical device cybersecurity management, coupled with stricter FDA regulations and scrutiny, is undergoing a wide extension in scope and scale due to the increasing demands for affordable, more convenient, and sophisticated healthcare services.  The internet and network connectivity have provided the right platform to build intelligent and real time healthcare services.  However, along with new serious cybersecurity issues and threats is a growing need for effective cybersecurity requirements across the full product lifecycle of medical devices, applications and software.

Rosenblatt is a litigator in Butler Snow’s Pharmaceutical, Medical Device and Healthcare litigation practice.  He defends pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers in mass tort and individual product liability cases pending in various state and federal venues throughout the country.  Rosenblatt is a member of the national expert team for one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical manufacturers, where he works to retain and develop experts, and prepare and defend them in depositions and trials.  He also has been part of the national trial team in nine mass tort trials in federal and state courts.

Rosenblatt completed his undergraduate education at Longwood University, and earned his M.B.A. and Juris Doctor from Mississippi College.  He is a graduate of the International Association of Defense Counsel Trial Academy and has been selected by the Mississippi Business Journal as one of the Top 50 Leaders in Law in the state.  Rosenblatt is also a member of the Defense Research Institute, Mississippi Defense Lawyers Association, and the Capital Area Bar Association.
