Julie Ellis and Ed Stanton were recently mentioned in the Memphis Business Journals’s article Announcing MBJ’s 2017 Best of the Bar winners – Memphis Business Journal:

Politics didn’t escape the acceptance speeches during the 2017 Memphis Business Journal Best of the Bar awards as winners took the opportunity to speak about the importance of women in the workplace, immigrant rights and the people who “answer the call for justice.”

Winners included Courtney Leyes with Fisher Phillips; Lynn Susser with Siskind Susser; Annie T. Christoff with Bass Berry & Sims; Julie H. Ellis with Butler Snow; Edward L. Stanton III, now with Butler Snow; and Melanie Murry with the University of Memphis.

Ed Stanton was mentioned again later in the article:

Stanton, a former U.S. District Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee, took the opportunity after winning the category for Public Service to thank the staff at the U.S. Attorney’s office, who he said, don’t get the credit they deserve.

“I think, over the six to seven years that I served, we went through a lot together — frustration in a government shut down, budget cuts and even hiring freezes,” Stanton said. “Every day, the men and women stand and answer the call for justice, and I’m very proud to work with them and that they continue to do that.”

On Wednesday, March 8, Stanton announced he was joining Memphis’ second-largest private firm, Butler Snow LLP. Read more here.
