Supporting Local Food Banks

July 3, 2013 | by Butler Snow

Butler Snow actively works to make a positive impact in the communities where we live and work. Two Butler Snow offices generously supported recent food drives raising over $8,000 for the hungry in Tennessee.

The Nashville office raised almost $5,000 during the “Battle of the Briefcase”, a virtual food drive that benefitted the Second Harvest Food Bank. They raised the third largest amount among the drive’s legal team which competed against local accounting firms.

Over 1 million individuals in Tennessee struggle with hunger including children, seniors and families. For every dollar raised, Second Harvest provides four meals to those in need. Therefore, as a result of Butler Snow’s contribution, 20,000 meals will be provided to needy families.

The Memphis office also raised almost $3,500 for “Operation Feed”, a food drive befitting the Mid-South Food Bank. Over twenty percent of the Mid-South’s thirty-one counties are food insecure. Thirty percent live above the poverty line and are not eligible for federal nutrition programs like food stamps, and 121,500 children are uncertain about their daily nutrition. The firm’s contributions will help provide these families with the nutrition they need to live healthy lives.
