Alveno Castilla Elected First Vice-Chairman of Mississippi Economic Council Board

Butler, Snow, O’Mara, Stevens & Cannada, PLLC (Butler Snow) Attorney Alveno N. Castilla has been elected First Vice-Chairman of the Mississippi Economic Council (MEC) Board of Directors.

Castilla is a member of the firm’s Business Services Group and focuses his practice on federal income tax planning and controversy, state and local tax planning and controversy, business and commercial transactions, new market tax credits, and project financing.

Castilla has been named in Mid-South Super Lawyers®, The Best Lawyers in America®, Mississippi’s 50 Leading Attorneys for Leadership in Law by the Mississippi Business Journal, CorporateCounsel Magazine as a Top Lawyer, and Who’s Who Legal: USA for Corporate Tax.  He is also AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell.

He earned his bachelor’s degree and M.B.A. from Millsaps College, and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Virginia.  Castilla is also licensed as a Certified Public Accountant.

The MEC has been the voice of Mississippi business since 1949.  MEC deals with broad issues that relate to businesses through advocacy, research, resources and leadership.  The organization has 8,000 members from 1,100 member firms in 2,400 locations throughout Mississippi.
