Butler, Snow, O’Mara, Stevens & Cannada, PLLC (Butler Snow) Attorney Charles E. Griffin has been appointed to the leadership of the American Bar Association’s Corporate Counsel Committee for the 2012-13 bar year as co-chair of the Complex Torts Subcommittee.

Griffin is a member of the firm’s Commercial Litigation Group. He focuses his practice on commercial litigation, consumer finance and insurance bad faith and fraud litigation. Griffin is an AV-rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell and has been recognized for his work by The Best Lawyers in America, Mid-South Super Lawyers and is an Elected Member of the American Law Institute. Griffin is a member of the American Bar Association, International Association of Defense Counsel, National Bar Association, the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel and the Defense Research Institute. Griffin is also Chairman of Butler Snow’s Diversity Committee. He received a degree in philosophy and his law degree from the University of Mississippi.
The Complex Torts Subcommittee is one of 16 subcommittees that fall under the Corporate Counsel Committee of the ABA. The committee focuses on solutions to corporate law and practice issues through dialogue between inside and outside counsel representing corporations. Its membership is balanced between inside and outside counsel. It has led the profession in focusing on methods of controlling the cost of corporate litigation through the study of innovative billing and budgeting techniques, imaginative litigation management methods and alternatives to litigation.
The committee is also focusing on corporate compliance and preventative law and a variety of substantive topics of interest to its members. The committee sponsors an annual three-day mid-year meeting on President’s Day weekend, a series of regional workshops, and presents other CLE programs.
