Butler, Snow, O’Mara, Stevens & Cannada, PLLC (Butler Snow) hosted a program for the Just The Beginning Foundation (JTBF), a non-profit organization devoted to increasing ethnic and socioeconomic diversity in the legal field.

JTBF provides cost free legal education programming its students around the country. Students of JTBF’s program visited Butler Snow on March 28 to learn more about various elements of the legal field.

“There are so many capable people locally and throughout our country who may be interested in entering the legal field, but do not have the resources to achieve that goal,” said Charles E. Griffin, Chairman, Butler Snow Diversity Committee and Attorney in Butler Snow’s Commercial Litigation Group.”I am deeply honored to partner with JTBF for this worthy endeavor because it helps aspiring attorneys make their dreams become a reality.”

At Butler Snow, JTBF students participated in a mock negotiation course, including a contract negotiation scenario designed to teach students effective problem solving techniques and professional decorum.Additionally, Butler Snow hosted a reception for the students allowing them to practice their networking skills with attorneys and to ask questions about the legal field.

Piney Woods School hosted JTBF from March 27-29, 2012, continuing its partnership with Butler Snow in the Lawyers in Residence Program. During the program, students are taught how to build critical thinking and legal reasoning skills, learn about careers in the legal field, meet attorneys and law students and work on oral argument and negotiation skills.
