May 9, 2016 | by Butler Snow

Smith Law Group LLLP is pleased to announce that its founder and managing partner, appellate specialist D. Todd Smith, has been elected Treasurer of the Austin Bar Association for the 2016-2017 bar year. He was one of two candidates for the position.

Smith’s election puts him on a path to becoming Austin Bar President in 2019-2020. Smith will be the first board-certified civil appellate lawyer to serve as President since 1997-1998.

Smith has served two terms on the Austin Bar Board of Directors and has chaired its Civil Appellate Law and Solo/Small Firm Sections. While serving as a Director, he helped lead the Membership Committee, which aims not only to grow the Bar’s numbers, but also to explore and implement measures to better serve existing members. He also consulted on an upgrade to the Bar’s website that has greatly enhanced its members’ experience.

Founded in 1893, the Austin Bar Association is a 4,000-member nonprofit professional organization for attorneys. Its mission is to promote professionalism and camaraderie within the legal community, aid in the administration of justice, enhance the delivery of and access to quality legal services, educate the public about the legal system, and actively participate in the success of the community at large.
