Mrinalini (Melanie) Jayashankar Joins Butler Snow’s Commercial Litigation Team in Memphis, Tennessee

Butler Snow LLP is pleased to announce that attorney Mrinalini (Melanie) Jayashankar has joined the firm’s Commercial Litigation team in Memphis, Tennessee. She assists with the representation of a broad range of clients in a variety of cases, including commercial, governmental, employment, and intellectual property litigation. She also assists in intellectual property portfolio management and prosecution and counsels clients on data privacy, cybersecurity, and technology-related matters.

Jayashankar joins the firm with more than 15 years of experience in the field and across Tennessee, working on a wide range of Civil Litigation matters for insurance companies, governmental entities, and businesses through summary judgment motions, jury trials, bench trials, mediations, and settlements.  She has represented and counseled clients on various employment law matters, including FLSA, EEOC, retaliation and discrimination claims. She has experience drafting and reviewing technology-related contracts and has advised on privacy policies and terms of use policies. In addition, Jayashankar has been responsible for trademark prosecution to maintain and expand intellectual portfolios. She has participated in and led a number of labor and employment panels. 

Melanie Jayashankar is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association and the Memphis Bar Association and previously served as a rotation with Inns of Court in Jackson, Tennessee. She is also a previous member and current supporter of the Small Business and Women’s Business Councils for the Memphis Chamber of Commerce. Previously, she clerked for Chief Judge William T. Boyett for the Superior Courts of Conasauga Judicial Circuit following law school.

Jayashankar earned her bachelor’s degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology and earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia School of Law.
