Butler Snow Names New Chief Human Resources Officer

Butler Snow LLP is pleased to announce the appointment of Dawn Anderson to the firm’s administrative leadership team as Chief Human Resources Officer. In this critical role, Anderson will oversee all human resource functions utilizing her experience in shaping strategies to align employee capabilities with firm goals.

Maddux, chair of Butler Snow. “Dawn brings extensive experience in multiple industries, and importantly, the legal industry. She is known for leading with a people-first approach, an essential element in this new role overseeing human resources at the firm.”

Bringing more than 25 years of human resource (HR) experience, Anderson holds both a Master in Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on HR as well as a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Georgia. Anderson will utilize her strategic leadership, distinct problem-solving, and passion for facilitating success through employee development in this new position.

After 20 years in retail and manufacturing, Anderson most recently served as Chief Human Resources Officer for a Georgia law firm overseeing the HR department. She worked to identify key opportunities to improve overall functions and coordination of cross-discipline areas while proactively driving change management processes resulting in higher levels of organizational performance. Anderson is passionate about building and supporting infrastructure that focuses on placing the right people with the right skills in the right place.

Previously, Anderson served 15 years as the Director of Human Resources, providing corporate oversight to 58 distribution centers and 1,000 retail stores, managing all aspects of human resource needs. In this role, she effectively negotiated union contracts, ensured business goals were achieved within contract processes, and implemented critical HR tools to better serve employees and the company. Following this position, Anderson served as the Sr. Director of Human Resources for a leading cleaning products manufacturer driving strategic workforce planning, developing key performance indicators to support HR performance at scale, and providing HR management support to multiple divisions striving for continuous improvement. During this time, Anderson also taught as an adjunct professor, teaching college-level courses and facilitating countless training seminars on leadership, management, and human resources.

Anderson is a member of the Atlanta Association of Legal Administrators (AALA), serving as a Past Chapter President and is also an active member of the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA), where she earned further credentials, including Certified Legal Manager (CLM) and certified Mental Health First Aid. She is also an active member of the Society of Human Resource Management and has earned her certification as a Senior Certified Professional (SHRM) of human resources.
