November 17, 2025 | by Butler Snow

Butler Snow LLP recently sponsored the Japan-America Alliance of Alabama dinner, a landmark event welcoming His Excellency, Shigeo Yamada, the Japanese Ambassador to the United States, on his first visit to Alabama in forty years. The dinner, attended by nearly 300 distinguished guests, brought together business leaders from countless industries to celebrate and strengthen the ties between Japan and Alabama.

Representing the firm and in his capacity as Honorary Consul to the Republic of Iceland, Butler Snow attorney Bradley Mayhew, and his wife Inga, had the honor of personally welcoming Ambassador Yamada. Mayhew’s role underscored the spirit of international cooperation and diplomacy that defined the evening.

Ambassador Yamada’s visit comes at a pivotal moment, following his coordination of President Trump’s recent meeting with Japan’s new Prime Minister. During the dinner, Ambassador Yamada confirmed that Japan will commit over $500 billion in new investments in the United States, with Alabama remaining one of their favored destinations for future growth and collaboration.
