Butler Snow attorneys Tommie Cardin and Melody McAnally will be speaking at the 2025 Mississippi Law Symposium, hosted by the Mississippi Law Journal, at the University of Mississippi School of Law on Friday, September 5, from 1:00 – 7:00 p.m. CST. McAnally will be part of a panel called, “The Right to Privacy,” and Cardin will speak as a part of the “Election Law,” panel.
The Mississippi Law Symposium is an annual event that involves speakers from the legal industry, often legal scholars, practitioners and judges. Each symposium includes a theme for the year and provides an opportunity for law students to hear from legal experts on current trending legal topics in the industry.
Tommie Cardin
Cardin is a member and former Practice Group Leader for Butler Snow’s Regulatory and Government Relations Group. His practice is focused on redistricting and voting rights, administrative law, government relations, environmental law. He has extensive experience representing public officials and public entities at both the state and local levels on a wide variety of matters. This representation includes general advice on the broad range of issues faced by local and state governmental entities and officials as well as specialty litigation issues.

Melody McAnally
McAnally serves as Team Leader of Butler Snow’s Data Security and Privacy Team, focusing on a range of privacy and data security matters and commercial litigation. She has extensive experience advising clients on data security and privacy issues, including data breach investigation and notification, data breach litigation, privacy compliance programs, privacy litigation, and cyber insurance policies and coverage issues.
McAnally is AV®-Preeminent™ Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell® and was recently recognized by BL Rankings, Best Lawyers in America® in Commercial Litigation for the 5th consecutive year (2020-2025). She has previously been recognized by Thomson Reuters Super Lawyers® in Business Litigation and named a Top-Rated Commercial Litigation Lawyer by The American Lawyer and Corporate Counsel. McAnally is a Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and immediate past chair of the ABA TIPS Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Committee.
