Butler Snow attorney Melissa Lorber has been named President of the Travis County Women Lawyers’ Association (TCWLA) for 2025-2026. Her term begins on July 1.
Founded in 1977 with just 33 members, TCWLA is committed to supporting issues affecting women both as lawyers and as members of society. TCWLA ‘s mission encompasses fostering communication among women lawyers, strengthening the image and position of women lawyers in the community, working toward the elimination of gender bias, informing the public about legal issues affecting women, and working toward the enhancement of the public perception of the legal profession.
Lorber is a board-certified appellate lawyer who represents businesses in litigation at both the trial and appellate levels, in state and federal courts. She regularly represents clients before the Texas Supreme Court, the Texas Courts of Appeals, and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. As a former newspaper journalist, Lorber employs her writing, research, and investigation skills in advocating for her business clients’ interests. Lorber has been recognized for her appellate work by BL Rankings, The Best Lawyers in America®, Thomson Reuters Super Lawyers® and Austin Monthly. She is a Past Chair of the Austin Bar Civil Appellate Section, a Board Member and Fellow of the Travis County Women Lawyers’ Foundation and serves on the State Bar of Texas Court Rules Committee and District 9 Grievance Committee. Lorber has also been a volunteer advocate for CASA of Travis County for 20 years and is on the Grants Leadership team for Impact Austin, a women’s collective giving organization.
