Butler Snow Attorney Denver Smith Speaks at 2026 South Carolina Bar Convention

Butler Snow attorney N. Denver Smith recently spoke at the 2026 SC Bar Convention on January 23 in Savannah, Georgia. His CLE section, “Modern Lawyering: Embracing Technology and Bridging Generational Divides,” explored the real-world impact of AI tools, provided cautionary tales from lawyers who have faced pitfalls firsthand, and offered practical insights into integrating technology without sacrificing firm culture and collaboration. Smith led the first presentation titled “Connecting Legal Tradition with Modern Innovation.”

Butler Snow attorney Bradish J. Waring was also honored during the SC Bar Convention after being recognized by the South Carolina Bar Foundation as the recipient of the 2025 DuRant Distinguished Public Service Award to honor Waring’s service to his community.

The South Carolina Bar serves its members through collaboration, the sharing of information, and by providing quality education to improve South Carolina’s legal profession and the administration of justice.

N. Denver Smith

Smith is a member of Butler Snow’s Tort, Transportation and Specialized Litigation group. He enjoys using his analytical skills to help clients achieve their legal, professional, and business development goals. Smith is committed to driving innovation in the legal community by challenging outdated principles that unreasonably inhibit client success. He frequently presents and writes on various litigation topics, including his contribution to Butler Snow’s 2024 Litigation Update.

Smith was recently recognized by BL Rankings, The Best Lawyers in America® as ‘One to Watch’ in several categories, including commercial litigation, insurance law, labor and employment litigation and product liability litigation (defendants). Charleston Business Magazine also named Smith to its 2025 Legal Elite list. He is a member of the South Carolina Bar and Defense Research Institute (DRI), where he served as the 2024-2025 Chair of the Young Lawyers Substantive Law Liaison Committee. Smith is also active in the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce’s Charleston Young Professionals organization and serves on the Board of Directors for the Palmetto Society of Human Resources Management.

Smith earned his bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from Coastal Carolina University and his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of South Carolina. During law school, he served as a Judicial Extern for Justice Kaye Hearn of the South Carolina Supreme Court.
