October 3, 2025 | by Butler Snow

Butler Snow attorney Edderek L. (Beau) Cole was recently elected as a Central District Trustee of the Mississippi Bar Foundation’s Board of Trustees. As a member of the Board of Trustees, Cole will help shape the influence of the Mississippi Bar Foundation’s mission to support the legal profession and lawyers in Mississippi.

The Mississippi Bar Foundation, Inc. was organized in 1963. Since then, the Foundation’s members have come to represent the highest level of professionalism and competence for a Mississippi lawyer. Over the years, through its Fellows program the Foundation has recognized outstanding members of the Bar. The Foundation has also provided financial assistance for many law-related programs and projects, provided scholarship assistance and support to both of Mississippi’s Law Schools and has financially supported law-related public education programs, such as the statewide high school mock trial competition, to improve public understanding of the legal system.

Edderek L. (Beau) Cole

Cole is member of Butler Snow’s Products, Catastrophic and Industrial Litigation and Tort, Transportation and Specialized Litigation groups. His background encompasses all types of litigation, including insurance contract and “bad faith” claims, government-led public interest claims, employment and other contract disputes, environmental disputes and toxic tort claims including the recent successful dismissal of hundreds of personal injury claims. He has deposed several hundred toxic tort plaintiffs and experts, has led multiple trial teams for various litigated matters and recently secured a multi-million dollar counterclaim and defense award in a complex, multi-party arbitration. Cole is an experienced trial attorney with success defending everything from small, but emotionally charged matters to high stakes “bet the company” litigation, including the recent favorable resolution of a $10M wrongful death claim.

Cole is recognized by Thomson Reuters Super Lawyers®, BL Rankings, The Best Lawyers in America® and Martindale-Hubbell®. In 2020, The Mississippi Bar Association honored him with its Distinguished Service Award. The Mississippi Business Journal selected him as a Top 10 Finalist for Mississippi’s Leading Attorneys (2016), and as one of its Leaders in Law (2015) and Top 50 Under 40 (2015). He is a Fellow of the Mississippi Bar Foundation.

Beau obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and his Juris Doctor from the Mississippi College School of Law. He is admitted to the practice in Mississippi, Tennessee and Texas.
