Butler Snow Adds Veteran Litigator Bruce Wallace to Charleston Office

Butler Snow LLP is pleased to announce that veteran trial attorney Bruce Wallace has joined the firm’s Charleston, South Carolina, office as a member of the Tort, Transportation and Specialized Litigation Group.

Wallace brings nearly three decades of litigation experience representing businesses, financial institutions, insurers and other organizations in high-stakes disputes. His practice spans complex commercial litigation, insurance coverage and bad faith matters, professional liability, real estate litigation, fiduciary disputes and catastrophic injury cases. He has successfully represented clients in state and federal courts throughout South Carolina and is a certified Circuit Court mediator as well as an approved mediator for the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina.

Throughout his career, Wallace has developed particular experience advising banking and financial institutions on commercial disputes, real estate litigation and mortgage foreclosure matters. He also counsels insurers on coverage and bad faith claims, defends professionals in liability matters and represents fiduciaries in trusts, estates and probate litigation.

Wallace has been recognized throughout his career for his professional accomplishments. He has been listed in BL Rankings, The Best Lawyers in America® for Commercial Litigation and Litigation–Insurance since 2015 and has been named “Lawyer of the Year” for Litigation–Insurance in 2017, 2020 and 2025. In 2020, he was awarded the University of South Carolina School of Law’s Compleat Lawyer Award. He has also been recognized by Thomson Reuters Super Lawyers®, Charleston Business Magazine’s Legal Elite of the Lowcountry, and holds an AV Preeminent® rating from Martindale-Hubbell.

An active leader in the legal profession, Wallace has held numerous leadership positions with the Defense Research Institute, including serving as program chair of its Professional Liability Committee. He previously served on the South Carolina Bar’s Board of Governors and is a frequent author and speaker on litigation, professional liability and insurance-related issues.

Wallace earned his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia. He is admitted to practice in South Carolina, the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.
