Announcing the Butler Snow Foundation 2025 Grant Recipients

The Butler Snow Foundation is pleased to announce its 2025 grant recipients. This year, the Foundation awarded nearly $200,000 to 25 nonprofit organizations that serve communities across the Foundation’s geographic footprint. These grants support critical programs and projects that address a wide range of community needs including education, food security, health and wellness, accessibility, and workforce development.

The 2025 grant recipients and funded initiatives include:

Alabama Holocaust Education Center (Birmingham, AL) – Virtual Reality Headsets Project

Alabama Holocaust Education Center provides education to the community on the history and lessons of the Holocaust. This grant will expand the Center’s virtual reality initiative, increasing student access to immersive educational experiences.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Alabama, Inc. (Birmingham, AL) – Future Builders STEAM Lab

Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Alabama, Inc. seeks to offer safe places where young people can learn, grow and succeed. Funding will support STEAM programming across eight club sites.

Ministry Center at Green Springs (Birmingham, AL) – Food Pantry Project

Ministry Center at Green Springs operates a food pantry supporting Birmingham’s multicultural community. Grant funds will be used to help fund the cold storage equipment for the Food Pantry project, specifically to assist with the purchase and installation of new commercial-grade refrigerator and freezer units for its food pantry operations.

The Food Bank of North Alabama (Huntsville, AL) – Warehouse Pallet Jack Upgrades

The Food Bank of North Alabama works to end hunger by offering hunger relief programs that immediately feed people in need. Grant funds will support the purchase of warehouse equipment to enhance food distribution efficiency.

Food for Hope (Adams County, CO) – Pantry Expansion Project

Food for Hope provides children in need with nutritious food so that they can grow, learn, and thrive among their peers. Funding will support infrastructure for in-school food pantry operations.

Open Door Ministries (Denver, CO) – Antioch II Renovation

Open Door Ministries is a Denver-based nonprofit that seeks to address the root causes of poverty. This grant will help fund necessary renovations on Open Door Ministries’ Antioch II facility that helps women transition out of homelessness.

Golden Pantry & Thrift (Golden, CO) – ADA-Compliant Pantry Entrance Renovation

Golden Pantry and Thrift provides a sustainable food pantry and financial assistance to those in the community experiencing hardship. Funding will support renovations to retrofit the organization’s entrance to improve accessibility for clients using wheelchairs or walkers.

Refuge Coffee Co. (Clarkston, GA) – Workforce Training and Startup Support

Refuge Coffee Co. serves the Clarkston community through coffee-related job creation, job training, social networking, and commerce. Grant funds will support startup costs for a facility providing job training, mentorship, and employment opportunities for refugee and immigrant trainees.

The Drake House (Roswell, GA) — Village 31 Renovation Project

The Drake House seeks to respond to the growing number of women and children experiencing homelessness in North Fulton. Grant funds will be used to renovate Village Apartment 31, one of 16 transitional housing units on campus, through the replacement of essential appliances (refrigerator, dishwasher, stove, microwave hood vent, and stackable washer/dryer unit) as well as the installation of new flooring.

Our Lady of the Lake Foundation (Baton Rouge, LA) – Wheels to Succeed

Our Lady of the Lake Foundation catalyzes philanthropic partnerships to advance excellence in health, access to comprehensive care and quality of life. Funding will support the purchase of adaptive bikes and safety equipment for children with physical and developmental disabilities receiving pediatric therapy services.

Mission First, Inc. (Jackson, MS) — Main Campus Facilities Improvement Project

Mission First exists to transform lives and impact the greater Jackson community through services to those in need including medical and dental care, early childhood education, after-school programs, and legal aid. Funds will be used for essential capital improvements on the Main Campus in Jackson, Mississippi.

Medgar and Myrlie Evers Institute (Jackson, MS) – E.V.E.R.S. FORWARD Project

The Medgar and Myrlie Evers Institute honors the legacies of the civil rights leaders whose names it bears through its goal to inspire, educate, activate, heal, and empower the next generation of social and racial justice, civil rights and human rights activists. The Institute will use grant funding to train 25 participants to become community responders through Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) certification, advocacy training, and digital organizing skills to support social justice initiatives.

We Will Go (Jackson, MS) – Enhanced Food Receiving and Storage Infrastructure

We Will Go seeks to provide services and programs to the Jackson community focusing efforts towards education, essential food, and community engagement. The grant will expand cold storage and food receiving capacity to increase access to nutritious food for families experiencing food insecurity in the Jackson area.

Caiden’s Corner (Kiln, MS) — Mobile Sensory Unit Project

Caiden’s Corner seeks to empower and uplift families affected by Autism through inclusive programs, emotional support, and accessible resources. Grant funds will purchase and outfit a converted trailer that brings a calm, sensory-friendly retreat space directly to community events, schools, and family workshops by providing adaptive seating, soft flooring, interactive sensory wall panels, calming lights, and noise reduction features.

Gotham Food Pantry (New York, NY) — Transporting Food Throughout NYC Project

Gotham Food Pantry is a New York City food pantry which will use the funds to purchase and equip two refrigerated 26-foot trucks, each with hydraulic lift gates and pallet jacks, ensuring both trucks are operational and fully integrated into the food rescue and distribution system.

Binghampton Christian Academy (Memphis, TN) – STEM Innovation Lab

Binghampton Christian Academy provides a supportive, family-like environment where students can thrive both academically and spiritually. Grant funds will support the creation of a new STEM Innovation Lab for Pre-K through fifth-grade students.

The Collegiate School of Memphis (Memphis, TN) – Student Technology Project

The Collegiate School of Memphis is a private, college preparatory school, providing sixth through twelfth-grade scholars with the highest quality education. Scholarship awards ensure that no child is denied the opportunity for a great education based on household income. This grant will be used to help fund the Student Technology project, specifically to provide new technology for students to ensure the school continues to offer reliable mediums for instruction.

Hope House (Liberty Hill, TX) – Furniture Replacement Project

Hope House’s mission is to provide the best possible life for children and adults living with profound intellectual disabilities. Funds will be used to help replace furniture (washed away in the 4th of July Central Texas floods) to equip bedrooms, common areas, and therapeutic spaces in two homes, which will allow more children with profound intellectual and physical disabilities to have their own bedrooms and a forever home.

Memphis Teacher Residency (Memphis, TN) – Projectors for Preparing Excellent Urban Educators

Memphis Teacher Residency provides students in Memphis neighborhoods with the same, or better, quality of education as is available to any student in the city by recruiting, training and supporting effective teachers. Grant funding will support the replacement of classroom projectors used to train aspiring and early-career teachers serving high-need schools.

First Steps Inc. (Nashville, TN) – Capital Improvements Project

First Steps, Inc. provides educational programs and support for children with special needs and typically developing children through age six. Grant funds will support improvements to key spaces used for therapy, education, staff training, and family engagement for children with special needs.

Monroe Harding, Inc. (Nashville, TN) – So Fresh and So Clean Project

Monroe Harding is the only agency in Middle Tennessee providing a comprehensive continuum of services for current and former foster youth from birth to age 26. The grant will support laundry facility upgrades in transitional housing sites serving young adults.

Renewal House, Inc. (Nashville, TN) — Apartment Safety Improvements Project

Renewal House serves more than 9,700 women and children as the only comprehensive residential Substance Use treatment program for pregnant women and mothers parenting children in Middle Tennessee. Funds will be used to support the apartment safety project that seeks to protect lives and prevent fire and water damage in buildings that house the women and children the agency serves.

United Methodist Ministry with Children & Families, Inc. (Jackson, MS) – The Homes Learning Center

United Methodist Ministries with Children and Families focuses on fostering spiritual growth, providing safe environments, and offering community support. This grant will help launch a pilot micro school program combining evidence-based education, art and music therapy, and mentorship to support youth recovering from abuse, neglect, or human trafficking.

CASA of Travis County (Austin, TX) — Security and Productivity Project

CASA speaks up for children who’ve been abused or neglected by empowering our community to volunteer as advocates for their best interests. Funds will be used to support the one-time costs associated with purchasing a Virtual Private Network (VPN) for CASA staff.

Healing with Horses Ranch (Manor, TX) — Perimeter Fencing Completion Project

Healing with Horses Ranch provides equine-assisted therapy services to persons living with a disability, uniformed service members, and at-risk youth in Central Texas. Grant funds will be used to complete a critical perimeter fencing project that will enhance safety for clients, staff, and equine partners by reinforcing the 43-acre facility in Manor, Texas.
