Joel Anderson Berly IV Selected for South Carolina Bar Leadership Academy

Butler Snow attorney Joel (Jay) Anderson Berly IV has been selected for the 2022 class of the South Carolina Bar Leadership Academy. The Academy is an annual program for Bar members who have been practicing three to 15 years. It offers participants networking opportunities, professionalism training, community awareness and other skills necessary to give back to the profession and position themselves as leaders in their communities. Berly is a member of Butler Snow’s Commercial Litigation group and concentrates his practice on a variety of civil litigation matters including commercial real estate disputes, insurance coverage litigation, and other complex business matters. Prior to joining Butler Snow, he served as a law clerk to The Honorable R. Bryan Harwell, United States Chief District Judge for the District of South Carolina. He also clerked for The Honorable Mary Geiger Lewis, United States District Judge for the District of South Carolina, before he joined Chief Judge Harwell’s chambers.

Berly is a member of the South Carolina Bar and the Charleston County Bar Association. He serves on the Professional Development Committee of the South Carolina Bar’s Young Lawyers Division. Berly received his bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University and received his Master of Studies in Law and Juris Doctor from Wake Forest University School of Law.
