Butler Snow attorney Stephen P. Groves, Sr. has been elected as a Fellow in the American College of Coverage Counsel.

The American College of Coverage Counsel is a national organization comprised of more than 300 preeminent lawyers involved in coverage and extracontractual matters, with fellows representing both policyholders and insurers and honorary members from academia. Established in 2012, the college is focused on the creative, ethical and efficient adjudication of insurance coverage and extracontractual disputes, peer-provided scholarship, professional coordination and the improvement of the relationship between and among its diverse members.

Groves is a member of Butler Snow’s tort, transportation and specialized litigation group.  He focuses his practice in the areas of insurance coverage litigation, appellate practice and commercial litigation.

Groves has been recognized by Best Lawyers® for appellate practice and insurance law since 2010, Charleston’s appellate practice “Lawyer of the Year” in 2015 and insurance “Lawyer of the Year” in 2019, and by Martindale-Hubbell® with an AV-Preeminent Peer Review rating.

Groves is member of the International Bar Association, American Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, South Carolina Bar, Charleston County Bar Association, DRI and the Council of Appellate Lawyers. He received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the College of Charleston and his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law.
