Butler Snow attorney Bradish J. Waring has been named to the South Carolina Supreme Court’s inaugural 2019 Pro Bono Honor Roll. This recognition acknowledges lawyers providing 50 or more hours of pro bono legal service in a calendar year.

Nearly a quarter of the South Carolina citizens live at or below 125% of the federal poverty guidelines and qualify for free civil legal aid. A vast majority of these households experience civil legal problems; including problems with health care, housing conditions, disability access, veteran’s benefits and domestic violence for which they cannot afford the services of a lawyer. The state’s legal services organizations are simply unable to meet the legal needs of these citizens without assistance from private attorneys. South Carolina attorneys often step in and volunteer their services by providing direct representation, holding clinics and answering questions for those of low or modest means.

Waring is a member of Butler Snow’s litigation department and practices within the tort, transportation and specialized litigation group. As a seasoned trial lawyer with more than 40 years of experience, he focuses his litigation practice primarily in the civil arena at the state and federal levels, and frequently represents clients in complex commercial litigation matters including products liability, asbestos litigation, insurance coverage, subrogation claims, business disputes and admiralty.

Waring is a member of the American Bar Association, the South Carolina Bar (past president), the Charleston County Bar Association, the American Board of Trial Advocates, the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association, the Academy of Distinguished Neutrals and the Defense Research Institute. He received his bachelor’s degree and his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina.
