Volunteers from Butler Snow continued the tradition of a day of service on Martin Luther King Day by joining Habitat for Humanity Mississippi Capital Area on demo day of a home in the Broadmoor area. Butler Snow volunteered alongside Atmos Energy and the Mississippi College School of Law as part of Habitat’s Broadmoor Initiative of 100 houses in 5 years. Butler Snow's Memphis office hosted a free CLE seminar for local and regional corporate counsel on December 16, 2019. Titled “Adapting to a Changing World,” the event featured presentations given by Butler Snow attorneys and clients on a variety of topics relevant to issues facing organizations today. More than 125 in-house counsel attended the seminar. Butler Snow attorneys Melody McAnally, Cara Baer, Trudy Fisher and Amy Pepke spoke at the event, along with Ronald Roberts, Managing Partner of DVL Seigenthaler; Michael Bisignano, Senior VP, Deputy General Counsel and Secretary of ServiceMaster; Robyn Diaz, Senior VP and Chief Legal Officer of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; and Matthew Everitt, VP General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Mercedes-Benz USA.

A group of students participating in leaderSTATE, a week-long summer leadership camp at Mississippi State University, visited the Butler Snow Ridgeland office on July 10, 2019. The camp is sponsored by the U. S. Army and provides leadership training, but primarily focuses on STEM education. The students visited Butler Snow's in-house court room where they discussed the importance of the judicial system, the physical layout of a courtroom, and the roles carried out by various officers of the court. Afterwards, they participated in a round table discussion on a variety of topics with several Butler Snow attorneys, discussing everything from what should be done now to succeed in law school to how STEM training and experience factors into the practice of law.
