Andrea La’Verne Edney and Franklin D. Rosenblatt Receive CABA Awards

Butler Snow attorneys Andrea La’Verne Edney and Franklin D. Rosenblatt were recently honored by the Capital Area Bar Association at its annual Evening Honoring the Judiciary event.

Edney is a 2021 recipient of the Professionalism Award, which recognizes attorneys that have demonstrated consistent adherence to professional standards of practice, ethics, integrity, civility and courtesy, as well as shown commitment to the practice and their clients.

Rosenblatt is the 2021 recipient of the inaugural Community Service Award, which recognizes an attorney who has demonstrated exemplary service to the local and legal community through pro bono work.

Edney practices within the pharmaceutical, medical device and health care litigation group. With more than 24 years of litigation experience, she has significant trial experience in state and federal courts in Mississippi and other states and has tried to verdict numerous cases. She has been named one of the Best Lawyers in America® since 2016 and recognized by Super Lawyers®Chambers USA and Benchmark Litigation. In 2018, she was honored as Lawyer of the Year by the Mississippi College School of Law.

Edney is a Fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, International Society of Barristers, American College of Trial Lawyers and the Mississippi Bar Foundation. She is a member of the Mississippi, American, Capital Area, Fifth Circuit and Tennessee Bar Associations. Edney received her undergraduate degree from Alcorn State University and her Juris Doctorate from Mississippi College School of Law.

Rosenblatt practices within Butler Snow’s Commercial Litigation group and serves as the Team Leader of the firm’s Military and National Security Law team. Prior to joining Butler Snow, Rosenblatt retired as a Lieutenant Colonel with more than 12 years of experience serving in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps as a prosecutor, legal advisor and defense attorney. As a prosecutor, he tried dozens of international, financial and violent crimes cases to verdict. Additionally, he successfully prosecuted four terrorism suspects in the Iraqi court system of Kirkuk, Iraq. Most recently, he served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Barbara Jacobs Rothstein in the U.S. District Court, District of Columbia.

Rosenblatt is a member of the Federal Bar Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the International Society for Military Law and the Law of War, where he serves as Vice President for Criminal Law of the United States Chapter. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the National Institute of Military Justice. Rosenblatt received his bachelor’s degree from James Madison University, his Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law and his Master of Laws from The Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School.
