Seven attorneys have joined Butler Snow LLP in four offices across the firm’s footprint, including Austin, Texas; Memphis, Tennessee; Nashville, Tennessee; and Ridgeland, Mississippi.

Marshall A. Bowen has joined Butler Snow’s Austin, Texas, office and will practice with the firm’s appellate and commercial litigation groups, in addition to governmental relations.
Bowen received his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University, his master’s from St. Mary’s University and his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from St. Mary’s University School of Law. Prior to joining Butler Snow, Bowen clerked at the Supreme Court of Texas and the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. He has also worked as a public affairs consultant and in public policy in the Texas Legislature.
Prior to joining Butler Snow, Stringer served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Diane K. Vescovo, Chief Magistrate Judge of the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee and the Honorable Bernice B. Donald, Circuit Judge for the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. She received her bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from Rhodes College and her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law.
Svilar served as a signals intelligence analyst in the United States Army and worked as a senior intelligence analyst, target analyst reporter and deputy division chief at the National Security Agency prior to joining Butler Snow. She received her bachelor’s degree, with honors, from the American Military University and her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the University of Tennessee College of Law.
M. Alyssa Barksdale and Jin Yoshikawa have joined Butler Snow’s Nashville, Tennessee, office. Barksdale will practice with the firm’s business services group and Yoshikawa will practice with the firm’s pharmaceutical, medical device and health care litigation group.
Barksdale focuses her practice on intellectual property and technology. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Alabama School of Law and her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from Mississippi State University.
Yoshikawa received his Juris Doctor from Vanderbilt University Law School, where he served as editor-in-chief of Vanderbilt Journal of Entertainment & Technology Law. He received his bachelor’s degree from Columbia University.
Sammy L. Brown, Jr. and Deondrey Rashad Russell have joined Butler Snow’s Ridgeland, Mississippi, office. Brown will practice with the firm’s commercial litigation group and Russell will practice with the firm’s pharmaceutical, medical device and health care litigation group.
In his practice, Brown has worked with a variety of businesses, including Fortune 100 companies, large restaurants and grocery chains, as well as small businesses and municipal entities. Brown earned his bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi and completed a judicial externship with the Honorable Michael P. Mills in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi.
Prior to joining Butler Snow, Russell completed a judicial externship with the Honorable Sean J. Tindell in the Mississippi Court of Appeals. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and his Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi School of Law.
