Benjamin Whitehouse to Speak at Business Insurance World Captive Forum

Butler Snow attorney Benjamin Whitehouse will serve as a panelist for an on-demand webinar during the 2021 Business Insurance World Captive Forum Virtual Conference from Feb. 24-25. The panel, titled “Gaining Third-Party Premium Through Customers, Employees and Other Networks,” will discuss how captive insurance companies can gain profit, diversification and potential tax advantages by reinsuring third-party coverages. Whitehouse is a member of Butler Snow’s regulatory and government relations practice group and focuses his practice on general insurance and captive insurance matters. Whitehouse is a former supervising attorney and assistant general counsel of the Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance as well as assistant attorney general for the state.

Whitehouse holds a certificate from the International Center for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE) as an Associate in Captive Insurance and previously held a certification as a Professional in Insurance Regulation by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. He currently serves as Chair of the Captive Insurance Committee of the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section, as well as President of the ICCIE governing board. Whitehouse received his undergraduate degree from Wabash College and his Juris Doctor from the University of Tennessee College of Law. He also holds a master of laws in taxation from Boston University School of Law to support his work in captive insurance.
