Meade W. Mitchell Named Fellow of Mississippi Bar Foundation

Meade W. Mitchell was recently selected as a Fellow of the Mississippi Bar Foundation. Over the years through its Fellows program, the Mississippi Bar Foundation has recognized outstanding members of the Mississippi Bar. The Mississippi Bar Foundation, since its organization, has come to represent the highest level of professionalism and competence for a Mississippi lawyer.

Since 1984, the Foundation has administered the interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts Program. IOLTA grants in excess of $12 million have been awarded. In 1987, the Mississippi Bar Foundation dedicated the Mississippi Bar Center. The Mississippi Bar Foundation has also provided financial assistance for many law related programs and projects, provided scholarship assistance and support to both of Mississippi’s law schools and has financially supported law-related public education programs, such as the statewide high school mock trial competition, to improve public understanding of the legal system.

Mitchell is an accomplished litigator and concentrates his practice on products defense, toxic tort defense, transportation law/trucking defense, energy litigation, insurance disputes and personal injury defense.

Mitchell is recognized in the The Best Lawyers in America® for Product Liability Litigation, in Super Lawyers® as a Mid-South Super Lawyer for Class Action/Mass Torts and as a Top 50 Mississippi Super Lawyer. He has also been recognized by Martindale-Hubbell® with an AV-Preeminent Peer Review rating, as well as one of the Mississippi Business Journal’s Top 40 Under 40. Mitchell is a prior recipient of the Outstanding Young Lawyer of Mississippi award from the Mississippi Bar and received the Distinguished Leadership Award from the Community Leadership Association.

Mitchell is an officer of the Tort, Trial & Insurance Practice Section of the ABA, past President of the Capital Area Bar Association and past Chair of the Litigation Section of the Mississippi Bar.  He is a fellow of the American Bar Foundation, as well as a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel, the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, the Lex Mundi Legal Network, the Mississippi Defense Lawyers Association, the Defense Research Institute, the Trucking Industry Defense Association and the Transportation Lawyers Association. He received his undergraduate degree and Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi.
