John Shoemaker Elected to STEP Singapore Branch Committee

Butler Snow attorney John Shoemaker has been elected to the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) Singapore Branch Committee for 2020-2021. STEP Singapore is a branch of the International Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and provides education, training, representation and networking for its 590 members. Shoemaker is a member of the firm’s business services group and practices in the Singapore office. He has more than 30 years of experience in legal and regulatory compliance and is a common law attorney with an educational emphasis on taxation, trusts and estate planning. Shoemaker also has extensive experience in ensuring multi-jurisdictional compliance for product offerings (working with outside counsel and adapting products for sale in relevant jurisdictions), including product management skills to direct complex products from concept to fully operational status.

Shoemaker is a member of the Society of Trust and Estates Practitioners (holding its TEP designation), the Singapore Trustees Association (serving on its Technical Committee), and the Kansas Bar Association (serving on its Board of Directors). He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas, his Juris Doctor from Washburn University School of Law and his Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of Alabama School of Law.
