Keenan Carter Named Trustee and Fellow of Two Organizations

Butler Snow attorney S. ​Keenan Carter has been elected to the Board of Trustees of the Baptist Memorial Health Care System and named a Fellow of the Memphis Bar Foundation’s (MBF) 2019 class.

Carter will serve a three-year term on the board of Baptist Memorial Health Care System, which is one the country’s largest not-for-profit health care systems that offers a full continuum of care to communities throughout the Mid-South.

As the charitable arm of the Memphis Bar Association, the MBF provides grants to assist law-related activities and projects that further the mission of promoting social justice and legal education. Attorneys and judges are nominated to become Fellows in recognition of their distinguished service to the legal profession and their adherence to the highest standards of professional ethics and conduct.

Carter is an experienced litigator and trial attorney. As a member of the firm’s Commercial Litigation group, he brings a breadth of experience in handling complex business disputes, defending clients sued for alleged discriminatory employment practices and conducting internal investigations for clients in various industries. Carter has represented clients in jurisdictions throughout the country and has tried more than 20 jury trials to verdict.

Carter is a member of the American, Tennessee and Memphis Bar Associations, as well as the Defense Research Institute. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Middle Tennessee State University and his Juris Doctor from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law.
