Scott K. Field and Amanda G. Taylor to Speak at Advanced Texas Administrative Law Seminar

Scott K. Field and Amanda G. Taylor will speak at the 14th Annual Advanced Texas Administrative Law Seminar. The seminar will be held Aug. 15-16 at the AT&T Conference Center in Austin, Texas.

Scott will participate in a panel discussion titled “Ultra Vires Update” on Aug. 15. The panelists will discuss recent decisions addressing ultra vires claims against government officials.

Amanda will present a paper titled “Texas Citizens Participation Act (TCPA) Update: Implications in Administrative Law Cases,” and participate in a panel discussion about this topic on Aug. 16. The panelists will review the TCPA’s application to administrative law cases and ramifications of the 2019 TCPA amendments.

Scott is a member of the firm’s litigation department and primarily practices within the appellate and written advocacy and commercial litigation groups. Prior to joining the firm, he served a six-year term as Justice of the Texas Court of Appeals, Third District. Scott also has experience from private practice where he handled all levels of trial and appellate matters in federal and state courts, represented individuals and institutions in a variety of commercial litigation matters including contract and insurance disputes and represented ERISA plans with disability and medical claims. He now uses his experience as a judge and as an appellate and trial attorney in advising clients from the outset of litigation through the conclusion of the appellate process.

Scott is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Austin Bar Association, the Federalist Society and the Texas Supreme Court Historical Society. He serves on the board of directors for the Texas Aggie Bar Association and is a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and the Austin Bar Foundation. Scott received his bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, from Texas A&M University and his Juris Doctor, with honors, from The University of Texas School of Law.

Amanda is a board-certified civil appellate specialist who routinely represents clients in both district and appellate courts across Texas. Her practice areas are widely varied and include disputes regarding contracts, business organizations, employment, shareholders, fiduciaries, trusts, the Texas Citizens’ Participation Act, fraud/misrepresentation, real property, franchise and sales tax, and consumers. She has been recognized by Super Lawyers® as a Texas Super Lawyer for civil appellate practice every year since 2014, and was named as a Top 50 Central/West Texas Lawyer in 2018.

Amanda is the immediate past Chair of the Civil Appellate Section of the Austin Bar Association, and has served on the Bar’s Board of Directors for the last four years. She is a regular CLE speaker for both the State Bar of Texas and the UT School of Law, and she is an active member of the Travis County Women Lawyers’ Association and the Baylor Law School Alumni Association. Amanda received her bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from Vanderbilt University and her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Baylor University School of Law.
