Butler Snow is pleased to announce John C. Henegan will speak at the 21st annual O.C. McDavid Journalism Conference on March 28 at Two Mississippi Museums in Jackson, Miss.
The conference – named after the late O.C. McDavid, former managing editor of the Jackson Daily News, who actively pursued a second career as an artist and sculptor after retiring from journalism – brings Mississippi college and university students majoring in journalism or communications before noted Mississippi journalists, educators and artisans. John will lead a morning session titled “Dealing with Defamation: Taking Care to Get it Right.”
John is a member of the firm’s media defense team and has successfully represented media companies in Mississippi in numerous defamation and privacy cases involving issues of first impression. His firm is General Counsel to the Mississippi Press Association, and John and his partners provide defamation and privacy advice to members of the Association through the MPA’s Hot Line. John is also the author or co-author of numerous articles and annual surveys about defamation, privacy, and First Amendment issues, and has spoken at workshops on these topics on numerous occasions before attorneys and journalists.
