Butler Snow is pleased to announce Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Project (MVLP) has awarded the firm its 2018 Chairman of the Board’s Torchbearer Award.

This award honors firms, organizations and individuals who have contributed financial resources, through signature programs, to accomplish MVLP’s mission of providing quality legal services to underserved Mississippians.

When presenting the award, Tammra Cascio, immediate past chair of the board of directors for MVLP, recognized the firm’s “longstanding history with MVLP” and honored Butler Snow for being an “unwavering, leading force in providing financial resources to MVLP so that MVLP can carry out its programs.”

While the relationship spans several decades, Butler Snow’s financial contributions since 2010 have enabled the project to host 40 clinics across the state and provide financial support for more than 120 of its cases, impacting nearly 300 individuals. The firm has also provided legal counsel on a host of cases through numerous attorneys for MVLP clients. Butler Snow attorneys have also served on the board of directors and as CLE speakers for MVLP events.

MVLP is a non-profit legal aid organization. Formed in 1982, it is the nation’s first formal association of a state bar association, the Mississippi Bar Association and the Legal Services Corporation (LSC). MVLP’s long-standing relationship with the Mississippi Bar and the LSC has resulted in a professional and productive partnership, with attorneys unselfishly offering their time and talents to serve Mississippi’s less fortunate.

Since 1982, MVLP has helped thousands of clients with a wide array of legal matters. More recently, the organization has narrowed its services to assisting clients with domestic matters, exclusively.
