Butler Snow is pleased to announce that Leslie K. Hafner has joined the firm as a senior government relations advisor in its Nashville, Tenn., office.
Hafner will be a member of Butler Snow’s Regulatory and Government Relations Practice Group.

Hafner brings extensive experience in legislative affairs to Butler Snow. Most recently, she served as the senior policy advisor for the office of Tennessee House Speaker Beth Harwell, which included advising the house speaker and leadership on emerging legislative conversations and assisting with the passage of the speaker’s legislative priorities.
Prior to her work for the house speaker, Hafner was senior advisor and chief lobbyist for Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam. Her experience in the governor’s office included cultivating and maintaining relationships with members of the Tennessee General Assembly and advising the governor on a number of issues. Hafner was also responsible for organizing senior staff meetings, directing operations related to passage of the legislative agenda and supervising and mentoring 45 liaisons across 23 state agencies and the governor’s team.
Butler Snow’s government relations group works throughout the legislative arena, coordinating and directing lobbying efforts on behalf of clients in Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Colorado and at the federal level. The group provides strategic counseling for clients related to overall legislative policy as well as other tactical efforts including tracking state and federal legislation, drafting and reviewing legislation, and preparing arguments on behalf of client concerning various legislative issues. Bolstered by former Tennessee Congressman John Tanner and former Governor of Mississippi Haley Barbour, Butler Snow provides clients with political and business development strategies that work.
Hafner received a Bachelor of Science in public relations from Middle Tennessee State University. She has been recognized by Nashville Post Magazine as “In Charge” in the category of government and politics since 2012. She was the 2014 recipient of the Women in Numbers Distinguished Leadership award, and currently serves as an ambassador for the American Counsel for Young Political Leaders.
