Joshua A. Hill Joins Butler Snow

Butler Snow is pleased to announce that Joshua A. Hill has joined the firm’s Oxford, Miss. office.  Hill is a member of the firm’s Pharmaceutical, Medical Device and Healthcare Practice Group, and will focus his practice on pharmaceutical and medical device defense matters.

“We’re excited about the unique experience and strong leadership skills that Josh brings to the firm,” said Donald Clark, Jr., chairman of Butler Snow. “His experience will strengthen this important industry practice, and we are glad to have him as part of our team.”

Hill has served as a judge advocate in the United State Marine Corps since 2010.  After completing his undergraduate education in political science at Missouri State University, Hill completed Officer Candidate’s School and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi School of Law. Hill completed the basic school in 2010 and finished Naval justice school in Newport, R.I.

Hill began his judge advocate career as a trial counsel and chief trial counsel where he practiced as a military criminal prosecutor on 30 general and special courts-martial, including cases involving violations of military orders, theft, drug abuse, obstruction of justice and sexual assault. He then served as deputy staff judge advocate where he advised commanding officers on a wide variety of legal, ethical, and military justice issues.  Hill most recently served as defense counsel where he represented service members accused of crimes in general and special courts-martial and administrative separations.  Hill was promoted to the rank of captain in 2010.  His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

Hill has been admitted to practice in Mississippi, both the U.S. District Courts in the Southern and Northern Districts of Mississippi, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
