Amanda Jones Tollison Joins Butler Snow

Butler, Snow, O’Mara, Stevens & Cannada, PLLC, announced today that Amanda Jones Tollison has joined the firm’s Government, Environmental & Energy Group.

Tollison’s emphasis will be on Government Relations, Corporate Compliance and Administrative and Municipal Law.

An AV-rated attorney, Tollison served as counsel to Governor Haley Barbour from 2008-2011 and was named chief counsel by Barbour in 2011. In February 2004, Tollison was elected president of the Mississippi Bar Young Lawyers Division. During her tenure as president she became most known for her duties coordinating more than 500 attorneys who provided legal assistance to over 4,000 Mississippians affected by Hurricane Katrina.

Tollison is a Leadership Mississippi graduate and was named one of the 50 Leading Business Women and a Finalist for Business Woman of the Year, as well as one of the Top 40 Under 40 by the Mississippi Business Journal. Tollison has won the American Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division Star of the Quarter Award and the Mississippi Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division Distinguished Service Award and Outstanding Young Lawyer Award. She also won the Pro Bono Award from Jackson Young Lawyers.

A current Fellow and former Trustee of the Mississippi Bar Foundation, Tollison has served on the Board of Bar Commissioners and as Second Vice-President at the Mississippi Bar Association, and as President and on the Board of Directors for the Mississippi Bar Young Lawyers Division.

Tollison received her J.D. from the University of Mississippi cum laude, where she was named Alumna of the Year in 2006. There, she served as Honor Council Chairman and on the Moot Court Board, while also writing for the University of Mississippi Law Journal.  Tollison received her B.A. in Political Science, summa cum laude from Mississippi State University.
