Butler Snow Bolsters Local Bankruptcy and Business Reorganization Practice

MEMPHIS – Butler Snow has hired James E. Bailey III and Michael P. Coury for their Memphis, Tenn. office. Butler Snow also has offices in Jackson, Miss., Gulfport, Miss., and Bethlehem, Pa.

“Jeb Bailey and Michael Coury are highly respected in the Memphis legal community and are two of the most recognized bankruptcy and business reorganization attorneys in our region,” said Randall D. Coury is the only practicing Memphis attorney who is a Fellow with the American College of Bankruptcy and one of only 14 in Tennessee. He has been honored by The Best Lawyers in America, Bankruptcy & Creditor/Debtor Rights, every year since 1993 and the Mid-South Super Lawyers, Bankruptcy & Creditor/Debtor Rights, since 2006.

Coury is also past chairperson of the bankruptcy section of the Memphis Bar Association and the Tennessee Bar Association Bankruptcy Section.

Coury earned a Juris Doctor from the Vanderbilt University School of Law where he served as associate editor of the Vanderbilt Journal of Transnational Law. He graduated with honors from Rhodes College with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Bailey is listed in the current edition of The Best Lawyers in America, Bankruptcy & Creditor/Debtor Rights, and has published several articles on bankruptcy. Bailey was also a panelist at the 2008 National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges Annual Meeting. He is a past chair of the Tennessee Bar Association Bankruptcy Section and is admitted to practice in the states of Tennessee, Arkansas and Alabama, as well as the federal courts in the Western and Middle Districts of Tennessee, the Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas, the Sixth, Eighth and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeal and the United States Supreme Court.

Bailey served as a judicial law clerk in the United States Bankruptcy Court of the Western District of Tennessee and for the Chancery Court of Tennessee for the 30th Judicial District. He has served in private practice for the past 12 years.

Bailey earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Memphis, School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from Auburn University.

Bob Frey A Featured Author in The Mississippi Lawyer

Butler Snow Attorney Robert M. Frey was featured recently in The Mississippi Lawyer, a publication of the Mississippi Bar.  His article, titled Improper Closing Argument in Civil Trial: A Trial Notebook Summary of Mississippi Case Law can be downloaded by clicking here.  Frey is a member of the firm's Appellate and Written Advocacy Group where he focuses his practice in the areas of insurance sales practices, claims-handling and coverage, commercial dispute resolution and litigation, and federal jurisdiction.


Nealey Contributes to MDLA Quarterly

Butler Snow Attorney LeAnn W. Nealey recently authored an article for the MDLA Quarterly, a publication of the Mississippi Defense Lawyers Association (MDLA), titled "Preserving Summary Judgment Based on the Exclusion of Expert Testimony."  Nealey is a member of the firm's Appellate and Written Advocacy Group where she focuses her practice on appellate advocacy, product liability and environmental law.
